About (updated as of 2012!)
Hi! I’m Rachel.
Thanks for visiting!
Welcome to humble little blog that details my baking/cooking journeys…
I took a long hiatus from 2008 to 2012 as I started working and kinda grew weary of blogging. But I’m back and hope to share many more wonderful and simple recipes with everyone.
No doubt I’m even more busy at work and traveling to many amazing cities, but cooking and baking always calms my senses and it is such a joy creating wholesome yummy treats for my friends and family. Now that I’m a ‘little’ older, I’ve grown more health conscious and always make an effort to adapt my recipes to reduce the fat/sugar and increase the fibre and nutritional value of my dishes.
I’ve also started giving simple cooking lessons to close friends as I believe that it is very important for ladies to feed good wholesome foods to their men and children… And yes, my ultimate dream is have my very own TV show just like Nigella (isn’t she just talented and just gorgeous?) or have my very own cooking school and cafe! Otherwise, I wanna have my very own fast food chain serving out healthy low cal, low carbs quick meals!
In my (extra)spare time(if there is even any left!), I love to snuggle up to a good book, suss out yummy food around Singapore, exercise (to keep all the calories from sampling all the food!), and tinker around with my beads and make my own jewellery. I’m quite an adrenaline junkie at heart and have taken to snowboarding and wakeboarding recently too!
I encourage you to give my recipes a try! And feel free to ask any questions because at the end of the day, baking and cooking is all about trying and gaining experience from it! Have fun!

HI …. by chance did you ever post an ” Oreo Chesse Cake ”
recipe before?
Hi Dilly…
I’m sorry I didn’t see this earlier…
I have made Oreo Cheesecake before, but I didn’t try it personally(made it for a friend, but he said that it was very good and all his friends love it)…
I would normally only post recipes that I have tried myself(both making and eating!) or I won’t be able to help those who encountered problems while using my recipes.
I have plans to make an Oreo cheesecake soon though , so yes, I’ll post it up once its done… ๐ For now, check out my other cakes… ๐
Thanks for replying…. That’s why I thot I saw it in your Blog before.
Just wanna tell you that I have tried it a few times. It’s a keeper.
Lastly, your Blog is one of my favs.
Keep up the GOOD work..
Cheers !

Hi ! juz found out abt ur site……very interesting !
Any idea on bake rice recipes ? Kindly share please……..
Thks !
Hi Evelyn…
I have tried baked rice before, but yes, what I did was very simple. Just get cooked rice, throw on some ham, canned mushrooms and cooked crab sticks, then I added cream of chicken(yes, the canned one! Mix it with a little water to make it smooth) over the rice(not too much, cos its very salty!!!), then throw on mozzarella cheese and bake in oven at 200 degrees till the cheese turns golden brown.
Not the real baked rice recipe but something I created when I wanted to eat baked rice… haha…
If I try a better baked rice recipe next time, I’ll post up the recipe! ๐

Hi Rachel,
You have the same birthday as me 12 Jul (read fr one of your sites). I was born in the year of the ox. Orange is one of my favourite colors and it started with ‘O’. Hence the name.
Your sites looks good. It’s pretty creative and interesting. I’m going to attend some baking and coffee making courses and hopefully start a coffee shop.
My site is about money http://theorangeox.blogspot.com
Check it out! Could you link my link with yours.
Hi Orange Ox,
Wow… we share the same bday! Fantastic!
Anyway, thanks for visiting my site, am glad you enjoyed your stay here.
Well, I’ve checked out your blog and I’m sorry to say that I can’t link you on my lazychef blog because those on my blogroll are food-related(be it recipes, or food reviews, etc) but your blog does not fall into this category. Sorry about that!
Thanks for visiting anyway!
OK. No problem. If you want me to add your link to my blog I’ll be happy too. Just give me an OK to do so.
An engineer, eh? Doesn’t invoke a yawn in me at all! I’m doing my Phd in EE as well and I love cooking. Just wandered onto your site and I must say that the results look divine! I definitely will try the recipes one of these days but I’m facing a problem of a poorly equipped kitchen. Most of the cooking I do nowadays come from my oven toaster and I must say that I thoroughly enjoy improvising on the cooking styles (eg. how to convert traditional wok style cooking to the oven toaster). Must be the engineer in me. ๐
Hi Sooth!
Haha… hello fellow EE pal…
Glad you enjoy cooking as much as me!
And yes, I think being having an analytical mind from all the engineering training helps in the cooking process as well! The kitchen is like a lab, and cooking is like doing experiments!
Hey, I recently stumbled upon your blog. It’s a great one! Will definitely be one of your regular readers soon!
